John Fulkerson, President of the New Canaan Exchange Club, thanked SLOBs for their hard work and continued support this year especially with the annual Christmas tree sales at Kiwanis Park. He discussed some of the many ways the Exchange Club serves our community through donations to non-profit charities and by supporting local organizations through fundraising and participation in community events. ABC of New Canaan, Filling in the Blanks, the NC Library, and Meals on Wheels are just a few of the organizations supported by the Exchange Club. Mr. Fulkerson also shared the following story:
A man was walking on the beach when he noticed a young man walking ahead of him.
The young man was stopping to throw starfish that had washed up on the beach back
into the ocean as he went. The older man ran to catch up with him and said, "Why are
you throwing the starfish back in? It won't make a difference to the overall starfish
population." The young man said, "That's true. It probably won't make a difference to
the population. But I bet it will make a difference to those starfish!"
Thank you John Fulkerson for your inspiring words and for all you do for our community!
