Each year, SLOBs volunteer for Planet New Canaan's Christmas Tree recycling program, which helps New Canaan residents keep trees out of landfills. New Canaan residents are encouraged to drop Christmas trees, free of lights and decorations, at the Steve Benko Pool Parking Lot. The trees collected will be mulched and the mulch spread on the New Canaan Nature Center trails. There is no charge for dropping a tree.
