Thirty-five SLOBs spent almost sixty hours helping Planet New Canaan organize Christmas Tree recycling to help residents keep their trees out of landfills. Residents dropped off Christmas trees (free of lights and decorations) at the Waveny Pool parking lot and the SLOBs helped unload and move the trees, which will be mulched. This Spring, the SLOBs will have another volunteer opportunity to spread the mulch on the New Canaan Nature Center trails.
Planet New Canaan founder, Robin Bates-Mason, said the SLOBs were "A really big help" and "Thank you"! Founded in 2017, Planet New Canaan a non-partisan, non-profit organization, and all-volunteer community group bringing awareness to environmental issues facing New Canaan and the broader world (www.planetnewcanaan.org).
