SLOBs Code of Conduct 2026-27

As a member of SLOBs, I understand that I am accountable for certain roles and responsibilities associated with membership.
In this regard, by becoming a member of SLOBs I agree to:

  • Abide by SLOBs bylaws and membership requirements.

  • Meet all membership obligations, including philanthropy hours, meeting attendance, and financial requirements, and fulfill the responsibilities of any role I serve in, whether as a volunteer, liaison, nominating committee member, or board member.

  • Lead with integrity. Membership in good standing with this Code is the foundation for all roles and leadership appointments within SLOBs.

At Volunteer Sites:

  • Arrive on time in my SLOBs shirt and stay for the full duration of my committed shift.

  • Introduce myself to the organization staff, follow their instructions, and ask questions if unsure.

  • Keep my phone away during active service and give the work and people my full attention.

  • Follow all safety rules and guidelines at volunteer sites.

  • Refrain from any behavior that could be considered unsafe, disruptive, or inappropriate.

  • Treat every person I encounter with dignity and respect, regardless of their circumstances.

  • Leave every site better than I found it.

Confidentiality:

  • What I see and hear at volunteer sites, the situations of the people served, internal details about the organizations, and anything sensitive are confidential.

  • I will not photograph or record individuals served without permission from organizational staff.

  • If I am serving in a board or liaison role, I understand that I carry additional confidentiality responsibilities.

  • Sensitive information shared through meetings, communications, or my work in that role will be held in the strictest confidence, out of respect for every member and the organizations we serve.

Representing SLOBs:

  • I am an ambassador for this organization at school, in the community, and online - not just at events.

  • I will speak positively about SLOBs, my fellow members, our board, and our partner organizations. Any concerns or disagreements should be brought to the board’s attention.

  • Social media posts from volunteer events must only be posted on approved SLOBs accounts and require board member approval.

Commitment:

  • If I sign up for a shift, I will show up. If a conflict arises, I will cancel through Track It Forward and notify the liaison as early as possible.

  • I understand that repeated no-shows affect partner organizations and may affect my membership standing and hours credit.
